Kefir is one of the oldest cultured Milks, having its origin in the Caucasian Mountains. With a bubbly effervescence and no bitter aftertaste, Kefir has been called the "Champagne of Milk." Kefir is a fermented Milk which contains a mixture of several species of lactic cultures. Prepared from selected strains of dairy cultures and yeast as wall as Kefir grains, so Yogourmet's Kefir produces a rich, creamy drink every time. Does not require the use of a yogurt maker, since the milk is incubated at room temperature for about 24 hours.
A health food the entire family can enjoy! One box makes two quarts of Kefir. Known to provide B-Vitamins and other important nutrients for health. A great source of "friendly" bacteria. Ideal for expectant mothers, children, older people and especially those who have been on medications.
INGREDIENTS: Lactic Bacteria and Yeast, Skim Milk Powder.
- Directions: Heat one quart of milk to 180 degrees or bring to the boiling point. Cool to 73 to 77 degrees. Dissolve 5 g of culture in a small amount of the cooled milk in a cup. Pour back into the quart and mix well. Pour the inoculated milk into a clean container, cover and let stand at room temperature until curd forms. Refrigerate for about 8 hours to stop the process. Stir to liquefy and enjoy. Always store Kefir in the refrigerator.
- Each box contains 6 envelopes of 5 grams and each envelope makes 1 liter of Kefir. When refrigerated, this product will stay fresh for one year past the date printed on the box top.
